What Makes a Great Senior Night Care Assistant in a Care Home?
Vigilance and responsiveness. Being a senior member of the care team on call overnight, you will be a key element in ensuring our residents are safe and secure. This means taking initiative to proactively address situations as they arise, in an environment with less access to support and longer response times for external medical support.
Independence and leadership. You will be core in leading the effective running of our care team from the evening through to the morning. By coordinating the team to conduct regular checks, monitor residents conditions and respond promptly to any needs that arise, you will help keep everyone cared for and comfortable throughout the night.
Empathy and compassion. Both residents and other care staff alike may find nights in a care home challenging. This might be residents who are lonely or confused about their environment, to staff who are struggling with the hours or challenging nighttime behaviours from some residents. We need senior care assistants on our night teams who show genuine care and compassion for those around them, creating a safe and comforting environment for all overnight.
