Dementia Training at B&M Care: A Blended Approach to Learning

Now, we are proud to introduce our new and innovative dementia training system, ‘Rose Model Blended Learning.’ Developed in-house, this blended training approach for staff combines the best of online and face-to-face learning to ensure that everyone receives comprehensive and practical dementia care training. We believe that blending learning in the workplace is the best way to combine practical skills training in dementia care, with written resources.
How Our Dementia Care Training Works
The Rose Model of Dementia Care is an evidence-based approach developed by B&M Care, with a focus on six principles: Individuality, Empowering, Engagement, Flourishing, Compassion and Wellbeing. Our dementia care training, developed by our Head of Training Elaine Thorpe and Director of Dementia Care Caroline Inch, is based on this approach.
Everyone accessing our dementia training gets access to our Learning Management System (LMS), which offers e-learning modules for mandatory subjects, along with selected face-to-face training sessions and on-the-floor mentoring.
For our LMS, we have partnered with Access, a leading provider in this field. The Access platform offers engaging and interactive content, ensuring that all our dementia training materials are easily accessible on a single platform. This streamlines the learning experience and enhances the overall effectiveness of our blended learning approach.
Specialist Dementia Care Training: Practical Competencies
One of the key focuses of our dementia training is on practical competencies, particularly in specialist dementia care and mapping. By adopting the blended learning approach, we are able to provide interactive online courses, face-to-face dementia training, and even external courses that can be individually booked at home level. Care staff can access the online modules at their convenience while still receiving valuable face-to-face training and mentorship.
This style of dementia care training ensures that staff can be present on the floor, observing and mentoring practical competencies. As a result, they can provide better person-centred care, meet compliance standards consistently, and maintain a high level of care quality.
