Care Home Housekeeper Jobs

We are looking for a Housekeeper to be responsible for the overall supervision and distribution of laundry and domestic duties within the workplace, supporting the domestic team as needed. You will need to efficiently manage all laundry, cleaning of equipment, and room decoration.

Housekeeper Duties and Responsibilities
  • To audit the cleanliness of the building and to support the domestic team as needed.
  • To adhere to cleaning schedules and to monitor that these are followed.
  • To efficiently manage the laundering of clothing and linen, thereby preventing unnecessary build-up.
  • To ensure that the laundry is identified for the correct loading of the washer(s) and
    dryer(s).
  • To have a knowledge of wash and drying programmes for different fabrics and separate
    accordingly.
  • To ensure a regular supply of detergent and fabric conditioner and any other cleaning
    materials necessary.
  • To be responsible of the maintenance of the equipment and the regular de-fluffing of the
    dryer(s), reporting any defects to the Manager or Assistant Manager immediately.
  • To have a knowledge of the Company’s COSHH and Infection Control polices.
  • To allocate clothes to their appropriate baskets and the distribution of clothes into the
    resident’s rooms and to ensure the correct marking of resident’s clothes.
  • To supervise all allocated rooms including furniture, fittings, fabrics, carpets and
    equipment.
  • To supervise the cleaning of sanitary and other equipment, in line with infection control
    policies.
  • To deal with the waste bags in accordance with health & safety and infection control
    procedures.

  • To work in line with the Company’s culture and ethos promoting Commitment, Connection

  • To attend all training as required.
  • To be aware of the Health and Safety statement and COSHH statement.
  • To assist in the completion of the full property list on admission of new clients (short and
    long term).
  • To ensure full return of items on discharge of clients.
  • To report any missing or damaged items of belongings, direct to the Manager.
  • Assist with basic mending of clothes and linen according to individual homes procedures.
  • Supervision of domestic staff.
  • Reporting the need of redecoration of rooms or areas of the home to the manager and to
    dress rooms when redecorated & awaiting viewing.
  • To conduct and supervise deep cleaning, including curtains when a room become vacant.
  • Ensure effective finance controls – adhering to budgets set out by the company.
Skills, Characteristics and Experience
Essential
  • Experience and understanding of managing a budget within company expectations
  • Ability to lead and support a team, to be a team player.
  • Clear understanding of your responsibility with Health & Safety and COSHH policies.
  • Effective communication within the team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to be a team player.
  • To uphold confidentiality at all times.
  • To maintain the privacy and dignity of each resident.
  • Flexibility within working hours to include weekend and varied shifts.
Desirable
  • A desire to develop within the role.
  • To hold a clean full UK driving licence.
